The event was originally organised as a fundraiser to restore the Palace of Versailles, and opened with the game-changing Battle of Versailles Fashion Show<\/strong>. This “fight” saw five of the biggest French designers pitted against five unknown Americans, a perfect illustration of the Paris-New York fashion rivalry.
