This week, we’re celebrating May 1st by cheering on workers of all trades<\/strong>, whose passion and hard work help our communities thrive. Oh, and on May 4th, we also celebrate another special “Force”\u00a0\ud83d\ude09\ud83c\udf1f<\/p>\n

In France, May 1st<\/strong> (or La F\u00eate du Travail<\/em><\/strong>) comes with a few interesting traditions. First of all, it’s worth noting that this day is the only public holiday<\/strong> in France where employers are legally bound to give their workers the day off, with few exceptions (such as hospitals and public transport). It’s also the day when French people give each other lily of the valley<\/strong>, as a lovely Spring reminder. And finally, it’s also an oh-so-French day of marches and demonstrations<\/strong> organised by trade unions in major cities to defend workers’ rights.
