Ready! Steady! Exams!<\/h1>\n

This week, we’re getting into “exam mode” – as we know many of you dear Kwizzers are at this time of the year. Bon courage\u00a0!<\/em>\u00a0\ud83e\udd17\ud83d\udcdd<\/p>\n

For the majority of French students, their most memorable exam remains le Baccalaur\u00e9at<\/strong><\/em> (or most commonly le Bac<\/em>), which marks the end of le lyc\u00e9e<\/em> (equivalent to high school) at the average age of 18. The exam session is split into 2: en premi\u00e8re<\/em> (i.e. penultimate year of lyc\u00e9e<\/em>), you take the French written and oral exams, then the rest of your subjects the following year. The Philosophy exam usually kicks off the Bac exam session every year in early June, and it’s a national event: newspapers publish the exam questions, and politicians, journalists, and families eagerly debate them over dinner! To pass the Bac, you need an average grade of 10\/20, but you can also aim for mentions<\/em> (i.e. honours) at 12\/20, 14\/20, 16\/20 and 18\/20.\u00a0\u2b50\ud83c\uddeb\ud83c\uddf7<\/p>\n
