This week, we’re celebrating the FIFA World Cup 2026<\/strong> with a very “footy” Newsletter\u00a0\u26bd\ud83c\udf0e<\/p>\n

Though le foot<\/em><\/strong> was born in England, France shares a very special bond with this sport historically, as it was in Paris that FIFA was officially founded on May 21, 1904. But France can also boast an impressive football legacy: it was a Frenchman, Lucien Laurent, who scored the first-ever goal in FIFA World Cup history; France is one of only two countries, along with Brazil, to have won every men’s FIFA 11-player tournament at all age levels; and last but not least, the women’s Olympique Lyonnais club (Lyon F\u00e9minin)<\/em> is the most successful club in the history of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, having claimed the prestigious trophy a staggering eight times.

To be able to support your favourite team, you’ll need to master this useful Football\/Soccer vocabulary list and its interactive Word Game<\/a><\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Another great way to remember new vocabulary is to write sentences using it in context. Here’s an example for you to get inspired:<\/p>\n
