I translated <em>and sang<\/em> you <a href=\"\/blog\/the-twelve-days-of-christmas-in-french\/\">The Twelve Days of Christmas in French<\/a> which is basically the same but without the added risk of you <strong>giving it away the very next day<\/strong>).  This year, to save <del>me<\/del> you from tears, I&#8217;m not going to sing &#8211; I&#8217;m going to give you<strong> the lyrics to the French version of Jingle Bells<\/strong>, along with some neat French lessons.  Eat your heart out, George Michael!<\/p>\n<p>Now, how in Santa&#8217;s Stockings do you translate, &#8220;Jingle Bells&#8221; into French?<\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t! Let&#8217;s face it, it barely means anything in English. Fortunately, the French have their own lyrics for this tune, which are very different but equally jolly and festive&#8230; <\/p>\n<h2>Vive le vent (&#8220;Long live the wind&#8221;)<\/h2>\n<p>(Sung to the tune of Jingle Bells.)<\/p>\n<p>Frankly, the hardest part with this song is trying to squeeze all those tricky extra French syllables in without swallowing your own tongue.
