Background

Lucrecia Pérez Sáez was born in Havana and currently lives in Barcelona. She is a gifted singer and piano player and has collaborated with artists such as Celia Cruz, Chavela Vargas, Joaquín Sabina, Andy Garcia, Manzanita and Lluís Llach. She was a good friend of Celia Cruz and is often regarded as her "successor". Lucrecia is also an actress and writer of children's books. In the video below, Lucrecia covers one of Celia Cruz's best-loved songs: La vida es un carnaval. Celia Cruz (1925 - 2003) was a famous Cuban-American salsa singer, winning Grammies for Best Salsa Album many times and earning a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award posthumously in 2016.
