Changing keyboard to allow for French accents etc - a tip

Being 73 years old, I'm not always the quickest to pick up new technology, however after continuous efforts, I did manage to change my keyboard some time ago. Last weekend I finally picked up my computer from my local technician. My computer had decided to set its own rules. It was impossible for me to get any password correct as the keyboard had changed from the UK QWERTY to the 'other one' and was adamant not to change back again. I ended up getting locked out of my own bank account, various government accounts, Microsoft, Google and so on. Because of my age and ??senility, the technician , who had spent a lot of time fixing the computer charged me very little, but he did suggest that I could use the special keys in Word and copy the words I wrote in French for pasting into the correct place. As I have copilot and all the technology given to us every time we make the mistake of agreeing to 'update' my computer does put red lines and blue lines everwhere but I just ignore them. It's better than having to change every password I have, multiple times. My recommendation - if you are living in a French-speaking country, it makes sense to change your keyboard settings, but if, like me, you live in an English-speaking country and have the choice, leave the Settings alone.
