A new set of self-marked weekend writing challenges was sent by email to Premium subscribers. The theme is Going Away – here are the titles.
This is v2 of our writing challenges, a format which offers corrections for each phrase to help you pinpoint your mistakes as you self-score.
Update: Premium subscribers can now retake challenges!
Please note that these writing challenges are in BETA, so you may encounter the occasional bug or glitch. Please do let us know about these so that we can get them fixed asap. As always, screenshots and information about your system (OS and browser, including versions) is extremely helpful. We’d also love to know what you think about the new format and function: good, bad or indifferent.

Aurélie is our resident French Expert. She has created most of the wonderful content you see on the site and is usually the person answering your tricky help questions. She comes from a small village near Chartres in Central France, country of cereal fields and not much else. I would say "Les filles étaient très excitées". Though the adjective "excité" tends to have a more sexual connotation in French, it's not the case when talking about children being enthusiastic :)
You could also use the expression "Les filles ne tenaient pas en place" - i.e. they couldn't stay still - though it's slightly vaguer.
