Newsletter: D-Day Anniversary

🪖D-Day Anniversary🫡

This week, we’re commemorating the event that became a turning point in the Second World War history: D-Day, which took place 81 years ago, on June 6th 1944.

Did you know that in French, we don’t call D-Day “le Jour J” – as one could assume – but Le Débarquement, which means “The (Boat) Landing”.

Alors, sans plus attendre, let’s reflect with the related Kwiziq content we’ve selected for you!

Commemorate the heroes of World War II with this powerful quote by member of the French Resistance, Lucie Aubrac:

“Le mot résister doit toujours se conjuguer au présent.”

(The word resist must always be conjugated in the present tense.)

Another great way to remember new vocabulary is to write sentences using it in context. Here’s an example for you to get inspired:

“Cet été, je vais en Normandie pour visiter les plages du Débarquement, où les Alliés ont débarqué le 6 juin 1944. Il est important de commémorer cette date, et d’écouter les vétérans pour ne jamais oublier les leçons de l’Histoire.”
