Chez vs à la

Why not 'chez la tante' rather than 'à la tante'? I thought for a person it should be chez?

Hi Jerry,

"Would you be available next Saturday to come for dinner AT MY PLACE? - Yes, as it happens, we were supposed to VISIT MARC'S AUNT..."

I assume that the text in capitals is the basis of your query?

"at my place" I would expect "chez moi"

"visit Marc's aunt" I would expect "rendre visit à la tante de Marc"

There is more information here:     https://www.wordreference.com/fren/chez

Hope this helps

Bonne continuation

Jim
