Choisis? (C'est moi qui choisis le film!)

Why use the passe simple here?

Bonjour Kim,

As Alan replied, "choisis" is the present form of "choisir" although the Passé Simple and the Présent Indicatif do share the same form with 'je'

-> Conjugations - Choisir (to choose)  / Regular French -IR Verbs French Verbs ending in -IR tend to conjugate

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

It’s actually the present indicative, see ´Using le présent for immediate/near future actions. A1 ‘
