Desserts in French sentences

Why is 'Apple tart with cream' translated as plural in French? , and shouldn't it be Tarte 'du' pommes instead of 'aux'?

Bonjour Nadine,

To express "apple tart" in French, you will always use "aux"  because you're referring to what the food is  flavoured with/made with:

Une tarte aux du pommes = An apple tart

-> Always with "aux" and it's made with apples (and "lots of" them)

Un gâteau à la vanille = A vanilla cake

-> flavoured with vanilla

Take a look at the links below:

de versus a aux

boite aux bijoux

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Céline,

I am sure you meant to write ‘ Une tarte aux pommes ‘ ( not ‘ aux du pommes ‘ ). Oops !

Thank you for your message! En effet, un gros "oops" ;-)
