On snowy days pronunciation.

Question

I understand that you are trying to have us become familiar with native speakers, but this is A1, and my goodness, either my hearing is horrendous, or the pronunciation of some words is just very poor. I cannot find any source that pronounces "met" anywhere close to that presented in the sentence "je mets mon gros pull préféré." Also, what's up with the pause before the last syllable of "déteste" in the sentence "mais je déteste le froid" ?

Bonjour William,
Aurélie and I both listened to the audio and everything is pronounced correctly to us. We found that "mets" is pronounced fine and we cannot hear a "pause before the last syllable of déteste".
It can happen that when learning a new language, the brain filters sounds according to what you know and the sounds it is "familiar" with. So, you sometimes think you've heard a sound or a pause, but, in reality, it is not present at all.
