Passé composé

Why is "I really feel like an ice cream !" "J'ai vraiment envie d'une glace !" in the past tense? Isn't the statement in the present tense as it is happening now?

Avoir envie de qqc. -- (lit.: to have longing for something) to want something

The sentence is in present tense. Did you mistake the noun l'envie for a past participle?
