The usage of "Rappeler à"

I like to have models to follow, and your lesson gives the following model: Rappeler + à + person being reminded + [infinitive]

Yet your quiz question "She reminds us to take our jackets"

is given the correct answer "Elle nous rappele de prendre nos vestes"

The model suggests that 'à' is a necessary part of the correct grammer but here it would be marked as wrong. I am disappointed and confused by the lesson that offers a clear model that is not correct.

Bonjour Paul,

Thank you for getting in touch via our forum!

The sentence you mentioned includes an indirect object pronoun (i.e "nous") and not a person's noun. This means that the model will be different from "Rappeler + à + person being reminded + de [infinitive]" -> "[indirect object pronoun] + rappeler + de [infinitive]"

If you go back to the lesson on Rappeler (à) [quelqu'un], the second part of the lesson (Rappeler à [quelqu'un] de [faire quelque chose] To remind [someone] to [do something]) does mention this particular point:

You will also use indirect object pronouns before rappeler :

me/te/lui/nous/vous/leur + rappeler + de + [infinitif]

Take a look at the examples below:

Elle rappelle à Maria et (à) moi de faire le ménage -> Elle nous rappelle de faire le ménage

She reminds Maria and I to do the cleaning -> She reminds us to do the cleaning

Il rappelle à ses enfants de mettre leurs chaussures -> Il leur rappelle de mettre leurs chaussures

He reminds his children to put their shoes on -> He reminds them to put their shoes on

Take also a look at the following link: French indirect object pronoun

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
