Why "Elle sent la vanille" and not "elle goût la vanille"?

Hi Stephen,

The lesson mentions that sentir can be used to express taste in a general context.

So "Elle sent la vanille" could mean that she was able to detect/perceive the vanilla specifically within the overall taste experience.

Goûter is "to taste" in the sense of sampling: Tu veux goûter à ma glace? -- Do you want to taste from my ice cream?
