Wouldn't journée be used here instead of jour?

Question

If you're talking about a memory of a day where something happened such as "Tu te souviens du jour où personne ne pouvait la trouver ?"  wouldn't journée fit better than jour? My understanding is that journée is used when describing narratives contained within a day whereas jour is used for if you were specifically asking about the date or the point in time.

the sentence is referring to a day as a specific point in time - the day that something happened ( she couldn’t be found ) - le jour is correct.
Same concept as the following example from the lesson attached : 
         J'ai eu plein de cadeaux le jour de mon anniversaire.
         I had a lot of presents on the day of my birthday. 
If it was something like ‘ do you remember what happened during the day …  ‘ - ( pendant ) la journée would be correct, as the day would be referred to as a duration/period of time. 
The distinction really is about ‘ time point ‘ compared to  ‘ period of time/duration ‘, as per the lesson.

Is it le or la?I confess that I have not done the exercise, but the point about the definite article is the key here.Le jour or la journéeI suspect that le jour is most appropriate because the reference is to "the day" in the preamble.Bonne journéeJim
