In France, la rentrée is not just about school. It also marks the return of French bookworms’ favourite cultural event: la rentrée littéraire. Every autumn between late August and October, French publishers drop nearly 500 new novels onto bookshop shelves in a matter of weeks. Unique to France, this period also coincides with the autumn awards season and its most sought-after prize, le Prix Goncourt, which, despite a famously tiny reward of €10, virtually guarantees an author a golden print run of hundreds of thousands of copies sold. So if you’re a proper book lover, September might be your perfect time to visit France! 📚🤓

Another great way to remember new vocabulary is to write sentences using it in context. Here’s an example for you to get inspired:

– Super ! J’avais hâte de découvrir ma nouvelle classe ! En arrivant à l’école, j’ai rejoint ma copine Elsa. Elle m’a montré son nouveau cartable licorne et sa trousse Huntrix, et moi, je lui ai montré mon magnifique stylo-plume.
