I attempted to register and my email address is not recognized as valid. Too bad the alpha part of your beta does not work.
We’ve been so busy working on some fantastic new features that I haven’t actually had time to tell you they’re been released!
Listen to French Grammar Examples
We know French can be tricky to pronounce sometimes. Like English, French is not always written phonetically, so we’ve added the ability to make our French grammar examples speak to you!
Thanks to a little help from some amazing Google technology, you can now listen to the French grammar examples on any of the French grammar topics in our system.
Check out the voiced examples in this lesson (NB: you might need to be logged in to view this):
Avoir peur de: to be afraid / scared of
This is synthetically voiced; in other words, it’s not a human speaking but the technology is so good that in many cases you can’t tell. Google speaks French fantastically well!
We’re constantly working to improve our French tests and lessons and we love this new feature. It is in BETA though which means it won’t work 100% of the time. If you find a problem with the pronunciation somewhere let us know – we’ll have native human French speakers provide voiced examples in cases where synthetic voices aren’t up to the job. So far, though, we’ve found only a few cases where it isn’t quite right.
So now when you take your French tests with us, and we analyse your results and build your lesson plan, you will have voiced examples to help you learn the correct pronunciation.
