In December 1851, French writer Victor Hugo went into exile for more than a decade, escaping tumultuous times in France. He finally settled on the Anglo-Norman island of Guernsey where he would live for 15 years. After Hugo's death, his house there, Hauteville House, was turned into a museum, celebrating its renowned owner's eclectic and eccentric sense of decor. Cécile takes us on a fascinating visit with the bilingual article below.
