We had wanted you so much for so long that we were your parents before having even met you. Although we were ready to jump through any hoops for you, the adoption process turned out to be even more gruelling than we expected. Yet, we persevered, united by our conviction that, at the end of that ordeal, you were waiting for us to come to love and protect you. Before I held you in my arms for the first time, I had never even imagined I could feel so much love for someone, but the day I finally met you, I felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. And our love has only grown stronger with every minute that we have spent with you, and I suspect it will keep doing so for the rest of our lives.
