Learn how to conjugate ÊTRE (to be) in Le Subjonctif Présent in French
The verb ÊTRE is irregular in Le Subjonctif Présent:
que je sois | that I am (were) |
que tu sois | that you are (were) |
qu'il/elle/on soit | that he/she/we is (were) |
que nous soyons | that we are (were) |
que vous soyez | that you are (were) |
qu'ils/elles soient | that they are (were) |
Note that:
- The singular forms' endings don't match the expected Le Subjonctif Présent ending (-e, -es, -e): je sois, tu sois, il soit
- The root soi- becomes soy- in the nous and vous form.
