Regarding: 'a déjà commencé à me causer des problèmes.'

An optional translation is given as: a déjà commencé à me poser problème.

Could you please explain why, in this case, there is not an indefinite article (un) before the word 'problème'.

Bonjour Stewart,

This is an excellent question! Thank you very much. 

After a bit of research, I came across this explanation (Banque de Dépannage Linguistique) and it seems that 'poser problème' has come about following the pattern of the familiar verbal expression 'faire problème' (= to be an issue/challenge). 

Remember: the more 'formal' expression 'poser un /des problème(s)' should be used.
