Beyond Fractions

Hello,

Comment écrit-on la fraction-> 1 5/16, 5 1/2, 3 2/3, etc.  Je sais écrire la fraction de base, mais quand on ajoute un nombre entier, je suis déconcerté

Bonjour John,

Thank you to Jim for answering. ;-)

One little thing though:

2/3 = deux tiers deux troisième

3 + 2/3 = trois plus deux tiers

See this link for irregular fractional numbers: Expressing fractions - general (numbers)

And, in French, instead of 'et' as in Jim's answer you most likely say "plus". People do say 'et' though. ;-)

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Hi John,

1 + 5/16 = un et cinq seizième

5 + 1/2 = cinq et demi (un et un deuxième)

3 + 2/3 = trois et deux troisième

Does this help?

Jim

Thanks for the responses; I was hoping it would be something simple/straightforward, and it is  :)
