Hi Drew,

The word ‘surprise’ is a noun and not an adjective so surprise is correct as it means a surprise gift as in English

Hope this helps!

Interesting. So is this a compound noun? I suppose if the adjective “surpris” were used then we’d have a “surprised present” (a present experiencing the feeling of surprise - perhaps in a child’s story in which the present is alive).
