Bescherelle punctuates haïr in the passé simple as: je haïs, tu haïs, il haït, etc., whereas you insist on: j'hais, tu hais, il hais, etc. Can they both be correct?

Haïr - what is the correct punctuation?
This question relates to:French lesson "Conjugate haïr in the present tense in French (Le Présent)"
Asked 2 years ago

Hi Tim,
This lesson is on how to conjugate the verb haïr in the present tense.
je hais
tu hais
il/elle/on hait
nous haïssons
vous haïssez
ils/elles haïssent
Bonne Continuation !

Yes, both are correct. Present tense of haïr is: je hais...nous haïssons (with the ï appearing only in the plural), but the passé simple already has the ï in the singular: je haïs.
