Hi Ramsay,
I am afraid it does, I have changed the audio for a better one but it is still not very clear.
If you listen to the tomatoes example there is a slight pause between je and hais which makes it clearer.
In the example, you quote it is actually brother rather than sister -
Mon frère hait Lady Gaga
which avoids the confusion between 'est' and 'hait'.
