How to use aussi with a verb

Where do I find the rule about inserting "aussi" into a sentence, such as "She also used pieces of plastic." ?

Thank you for excellent question.
When ‘aussi’ is an adverb (as in meaning ‘also / too’ or ‘in addition’) it is placed following the word (verb / noun) it is referring to:
Sophie viendra aussi = Sophie will come too
Antoine est venu et Sophie aussi = Antoine came and Sophie too
Le nouveau budget prévoit une réduction d’impôts. Il prévoit aussi une augmentation de salaire = the new budget provides for a tax reduction. It also (in addition) provides for a salary increase

What about compound tenses? Can you say "Antoine est aussi venu"? Or is it just "Antoine est venu aussi"?

Antoine est aussi venu = Antoine came too
Antoine est venu aussi = Antoine came too -> familiar / everyday 
 
Attention: here it is a conjunction not an adverb (implies a consequence or an explanation)
Aussi, il est venu = as such (as a consequence) he came
