Hi Fay,

The important little word in the expression is the preposition à which will be replaced by an indirect pronoun -

Pronom d'objet indirect

Donc -

Je lui ai rendu visite = J'ai rendu visite à ma sœur/à mon frère/à M. Dupont

Je leur ai rendu visite = J'ai rendu visite mes parents/ à mes amis/ à M. et Mme Durand
