Is this a commonly used verb tense?

Is this a commonly used verb tense?

Is this tense more commonly used in French than in English? I hardly ever speak like this in English and I find it to be a strange tense to learn since it doesn't seem likely that we learners will be reminiscing in French. That seems to be it's only use.

Hi Danielle,

Le Futur Antérieur causes many problems as it is a little-used tense but it does exist in English too.

Here is the Kwiziq lesson on the theory -

Le Futur Antérieur

Also, you might want to do a couple of fill-in-the-blanks exercises to practice a situation where you might use it -

En attendant Aline (Le Futur Antérieur)

Au retour du travail (Le Futur Antérieur)

Bonne Continuation !

Hi Danielle,

Perhaps so    -  but this is one of the eight indicatifs which form a standard conjugation table.   Maybe one could make the same comment about others within that group?

Bonne journée

Jim
