la petite fille des "Misérables"

I understand that de + les = des, but is it more natural to use 'des' here, even though the 'les' is part of the title "Les Misérables"? The alternative correct answer was given as 'la petite fille dans "Les Misérables", which seems to preserve the title of the book.

Hi Justine,

I have just done this exercise and both are accepted.

I think to preserve the title you would probably use "la petite fille dans 'Les Misérables' " but I was very tempted to write "...des 'Misérables' which sounded correct too.

So on reflection, both are acceptable.
