Need clarification on use of PIRE as an adverb

Pierre joue mal,  Louis joue encore plus mal que lui, mais c'est Karl qui joue le plus mal. Can 'pire' be used instead of the 2nd and 3rd highlighted adverbs?  Also is pire=le pire? "the worst"? E.g.  C'est le pire film.  (Its the worst film.) Thanks in advance.

 Bonjour Andrea,

plus mal / pire

Remember: the adverb ‘pire’ is used with ‘être’ contrary to the adverb ‘mal / plus mal’– see section from the lesson

pire  = le pire :

le pire de + [noun] = the worst of ... → superlative / adjective

pire que + [noun] = worse than … → comparative / adjective

c'est pire ! = it is worse ! → adverb

This is how you usually would say ‘it is the worst film’:

C’est le pire film de tous les temps ! it is the worst film (ever made)!

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
