When translating idiomatic expressions it is often the case that direct translation is not the best answer.
‘ un de perdu, dix de retrouvés ‘ is the colloquial, idiomatic French expression used in similar situations to the English expression ‘ there are plenty of (other) fish in the sea’.
“ Il y a d’autres poissons dans la mer “ and many other ‘ direct ‘ translations such as your example, are not natural in French, although they are grammatically correct and may be understood.
