qui explore les thèmes de l'avarice et de l'hypocrisie.

Here, de l' is being used as a partitive article? Or de comes with thèmes?

If the second case is true, can we omit the second de here: qui explore les thèmes de l'avarice et (de) l'hypocrisie

Thank you

Bonjour Blaise,

Here, "de" is not a partitive article. In this sentence, we're talking about specific concepts, not an uncountable quantity. Instead, it's a preposition used to link "thèmes" with what follows and expressing what the themes are about. Also, you shouldn't omit the second "de" as there are 2 themes: greed and hypocrisy. Otherwise, the English sentence would be different and it would introduce ambiguity with what was meant in the first place.

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
