Is 'Ils s'ont enrichi grâce à leur histoire d'amour, a reasonable alternative toIls sont devenus riches grâce à leur histoire d'amour.Note: Collins on-line came up with s'enrichir = to get rich

Hi Jack,
I believe that we should write  "Ils se sont enrichis ..... " the se being a reflexive pronoun and representing the direct object. So they enriched themselves etc. etc.
"Ils sont devenus riches  etc etc"  conveys the sense that they did not enrich themselves but became rich by some fortunate consequence of their love.
That's how I see it  --  hope this may help if you agree with my analysis of the texts.
