Te plaît vs j’aime

In this text the question used “te plait…” and the answer was “j’aime…” Why? What is the general rule? Thanks!

Bonjour Michael,

In this context, using "plaire" is idiomatic. It's usually what a French native would use.

- Ta nouvelle robe te plaît ? - Oui, je l'adore ! = - Do you like your new dress? - Yes, I love it!
- Qu'est-ce qui te plaît dans ce livre ? - Les personnages sont attachants. = - What do you like about this novel? - The characters are sweet.

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
