Is it correct to write:

Ainsi, ayant pris soin de satisfaire à l'exigence de .....

I cannot work this out from the Progress materials, which seem to focus mostly on en+..ant

Bonjour Le,

"Ainsi, ayant pris..." is not the present participle on its own. In fact, it's a perfect participle construction, formed with the present participle of "avoir" ("ayant") + the past participle of the main verb "prendre" ("pris"). This construction is used to express something that happened before the main action, similar to a cause or background context.
