If you have a look at the link above you will see a similar example of usage "passionée (de qch)"

with an example in English.

The English follows exactly your sample text  --  so it looks to me as being a standard format as written in the link.

To be an animal lover to my mind is not quite the same meaning as being a passionate camper.
