Finally, let’s go back to basics with a refresher on French colours thanks to our list of colours in French and its interactive Word Game!

Another great way to remember new vocabulary is to write sentences using it in context. Here are some examples for you to get inspired:

“- Regarde cette nature morte ! Le vert dans cette pomme n’est pas réaliste, il est presque bleu par endroits.
– C’est typique de Cézanne ! Il utilise la couleur pour construire la forme. Observe le fond : il mélange des touches d’ocre jaune avec des nuances de violet.
– Et ce drapé ? C’est un rouge si puissant ! Il n’a pas peur des contrastes.
– Exactement. Regarde “la montagne Sainte-Victoire”. Le ciel n’est jamais un simple bleu ; il y met de l’orange et parfois même du gris pour donner du volume.
– On dirait qu’il sculpte les couleurs, c’est magnifique !”
