Adjective describing age

''un extrêmement vieux parchemin'' was marked as incorrect but I thought adjectives describing age are supposed to go in front of the noun? I know '' extrêmement'' is more than 2 syllables but wouldn't this particular statement go before as it's still age?

Edit: I have since found out that I pretty much answered my own question.
