Distinguishing "few"

I can't distinguish how one would know the difference in these examples of when to use which one for few.
quelques (plural)

Used with countable things it means a couple of, some, a few.

Il a quelques livres à lire.He has a few books to read.

and peu de means little, not much of, few

Nous avons peu d'argent. We have little money.
We don't have much money.Elle a peu d'amis.

Hi Jehan,

I actually think that you have got it as all you quote is correct.

Take a look at Stephanie's answer to Carol, taken from the Q&A as some found it very useful -

Hope this helps!
