en is used with feminine countries (the ones ending in -e, except for Mexique, Cambodge, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Belize) and continents (

I am confused.. why the “except” if those countries and continents are feminine.. if the except means they are masculine, the (all of them are feminine)” makes no sense!

Well, you know the French: they love their exceptions. So, indeed, it is all of the feminine countries except some....

I agree, this is confusing.

What it means is that all countries ending in -e are feminine, except those listed, which are masculine.
