In this sentence, the word 'chaud' is referring the warm temperature outside, or does it mean spicy? as the words onion and garlic were mentioned preceding this.
Does the word 'chaud' means spicy as well as high in temperature just like in english?

Hi Catherine,
With the verb 'faire' it is the weather we are talking about.
If you wanted to say something is too spicy you would have to say -
C'est trop épicé...

The weather is too hot for eating something spicy.
That's what they meant. "Il fait" refers to the weather
