La neige chute ou La neige tombe

To describe "Snow falls" ot just "Heavy snowfall", which verb should we use:

tomber or chuter?

What are the subtle or not-so-subtle differences between these two verbs?

Bonjour Blaise,

You will use the verb 'tomber' when you are talking about the action of snow falling.

If you were talking about a snowfall, you would use the noun 'chute' -

Il y eu une forte chute de neige hier soir = There was a heavy snowfall last night

Hope this helps!
