memorize nouns' gender??

so basically you must memorize every noun's gender (le "noun", la "noun") to be able to use partitive articles correctly?

it’s not just for using partitive articles correctly that you need to learn the gender of nouns ( in the long term best done as you encounter them or need to use in my view ) - but there are some tips that will let you ‘ guess ‘ correctly quite frequently. 
Ultimately, because there are many exceptions to most of the ‘shortcuts’,  it is important to confirm the gender of most nouns either with other clues in the phrases, or with a reliable source.
