Why "dans"? Isn't stadium a general place rather than a specific one? Like "in prison" = "en la prision"?

Bonjour Sheri,
Dans is used when it means an actual, physical place = in the/a/his ... while en is used when it refers more to a general, abstract, symbolic place = in ...
Michael Jackson is in the stadium -> "in the" -> dans le stade
Also, in French you would never have "Michael Jackson est en stade".
