mon père et moi

Is it optional to use the subject pronoun after "mon pére et moi" as in The fireworks example?

Ma sœur et moi nous avons rejoint ...

compared "mon père et moi avons décidé" in Fishing with Dad?

Hi kay,

Yes, the subject pronoun 'nous' is implied in 'mon père et moi' and sometimes it is there or omitted.

Mon père et moi (nous) avons décidé ...

Both forms are accepted in the exercise and I assume this is the case in the other example you quote.

Bonne Continuation!

Hi Kay,

Yes! I believe so in principle, but there is a possible snag. If the verb could be reflexive or reciprocal then there could be some confusion. In your example Mon père et moi, nous avons .........      (Nous nous)    but rejoindre can take "se rejoindre"  so in this case unwise, to avoid confusion  --  even although être is not being used as auxiliary.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Thank you Jim, but I am not sure it helps as in neither of these cases is the verb reflexive (I am not sure about reciprocal) The examples I gave were not mine but from the optional paragraph given at the conclusion of the exercise.
