Ni l'un ni l'autre n'EST venu

Question

For my question 1 I had: "Ni l'un ni l'autre n'est venu"

I was wondering why it is 'est' not 'sont'? Based on the lesson, does this just mean it is referring to something that for some reason both parties would not have been able to come to simultaneously?

That particular question was asking you for the translation into English.
But I can see why you would ask about the singular rather than the plural form of the verb being used.
The lesson says that if the action is simultaneous, then you would use the plural, as we don't know whether the participants were expected to arrive together or whether they were waiting for one or the other to come. I believe the singular is correct.
