Partitive articles and definite articles

Are we supposed to use definite articles with adorer,Aimer, detester and préférer verb instead of partitive articles?

J'aime les fruits

J'aime des fruits

Which one is correct?

With aimer, the use of the article generalizes the statement:

J'aime les pommes. -- I love apples.

For a particular item, you can use the demonstrative pronoun:

J'aime cette pomme. -- I love this apple.

The partitive article works as expected:

J'aime des pommes. -- I love some apples.

Aimer, Adorer, Préférer and détester are always followed by definite articles le, la, l' or les.

@Jaya: yes, but only if you are talking about the general (see the examples in my post).

with aimer, adorer, admirer, detester, and préférer use definite articles only.

EX: J'aime les fruits.

   Je deteste la mer.
