Prononciation of S in the word "plus"

Why in the phrase "J'ai plus de livres que toi" the letter S is readable, and in the phrase "Tom a plus de cent euros dans son porte-feuille !" - not?

plu de plus de

I have also updated the audio for the example you are mentionning as most people will pronounce the "-s" because it is a positive context.
